Please help us shape school facility options at upcoming Building 73.5 sessions. Your feedback will guide future planning.
Facing the challenges of aging and overcrowded buildings, Skokie School District 73.5 is turning to the community to help determine solutions. We invite you to review and provide feedback on options for the future of the district’s school buildings. Following community input from the spring 2025 engagement sessions, FGMA architects developed proposed options for school improvements over the summer and will further refine them after the first engagement session this fall.
The fall Building 73.5 community workshops and topics are scheduled for October and November:
- Session 3 - Building for Tomorrow: Big Picture Decisions and Funding Pathways
Thursday, October 16, 2025
7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
John Middleton Elementary School Gym
8300 St. Louis Avenue, Skokie, IL 60076
- Session 4 - Your Voice, Your Schools: Evaluating Specific Options for Building Improvements
Monday, November 10, 2025
7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
John Middleton Elementary School Gym
8300 St. Louis Avenue, Skokie, IL 60076
These sessions build on the work completed during the first and second community workshops held last spring. More than 100 participants gathered to explore how Skokie’s school buildings can better support students’ evolving needs. The community identified the following priorities for the district and architects to consider in developing the options to be presented:
- Ensuring ADA accessibility in all schools
- Providing space for specialized student support programs
- Meeting today’s safety and security standards
- Updating schools to support technology, STEM, and collaborative learning
- Proactively replacing aging systems and infrastructure
