MEYER NEWS

Red heart with the word "Meyer" in the center and starsThank you to all the Meyer families who were able to join us for MEYER STORY NIGHT on Thursday evening! We had fun cozying up together to hear stories about “love.” Thank you to the Meyer Parent Leaders for providing the snacks!

COLLABORATIVE ART PROJECT WITH McCRACKEN! This week Kindergarten students brought home a very special Music and Art friend named “Bo Bo.” Bo Bo helps our Meyer Shining Stars sing in their proper singing voice. They have been singing with their special Bo Bo all year in Music class.

In Art class, kindergartners first planned and designed their very own Bo Bo with a variety of materials, starting with a tennis ball. Best of all, Art students at McCracken used the tennis balls and hot glue to make their Bo Bos come to life! A big thank you to Mr. MacBeth and the Art students at McCracken for their collaboration.

Ask your student to have Bo Bo sing for you at home!

MIDDLETON NEWS

FORGOTTEN ITEMS: Please try to send your students to school with all the materials they will need for the day. It is difficult for office staff to deliver items to students on time if lunches, instruments, water bottles, etc. are dropped off in the office during the school day. Thank you!

Fifth grade students had the amazing opportunity to meet and learn from author Sayantani DasGupta earlier this week. DasGupta is the award-winning author of multiple fantasy series, including the Kiranmala and the Kingdom Beyond series and The Secrets of the Sky series. She read from her novels, discussed the importance of sharing your own story, and answered student questions about writing and storytelling.

Middleton had a great turnout at the 4th and 5th Grade Glow Dance Party last Friday! The glow sticks were a hit and so were all the snacks provided by the PTO!

Congratulations to our 4th and 5th grade students for performing an AMAZING CONCERT last week!

Thank you to Vocal Music Educator Ms. Angie Sylvester for your work and dedication to bring music to life for our students!

WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT. We will welcome and engage staff, students, families and community members in our schools.

HIRING & RETENTION. We will recruit, hire, and retain a diverse workforce and improve our human resource processes, procedures, and materials.

INFRASTRUCTURE & FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY. All financial decisions and investments will meet the needs of our diverse learners and staff and promote academic and social growth. We will provide a safe, inclusive, flexible, and innovative space for teaching, learning, and growing.

TEACHING & LEARNING. All students will engage in learning experiences that are cohesive and articulated across PreK-8, flexibly designed to engage all learners and leading to rigorous outcomes for all. We will be a future-focused, real-world learning environment that is responsive, accessible, and meaningful for all. We will become a model district on the use of data for making instructional, curriculum, and programmatic decisions.

Equity Mission Statement

WE BELIEVE that inclusivity and belonging is the foundation for equity.

ALL CHILDREN CAN LEARN, at high achievement levels, when equity is infused into every aspect of education.

WE ACKNOWLEDGE the systemic inequities present in school systems and recognize the impact they continue to have on marginalized communities.

WE COMMIT to teaching, learning, and growing in order to identify and dismantle inequitable systems and to create a community where barriers are removed so that everyone can reach their full potential.

WE BELIEVE that students succeed when they can see themselves represented in our staff, curriculum, opportunities, and our shared environment. We accomplish this through professional development, curriculum revision, community engagement, and systems evaluations.

WE RECOGNIZE the need to teach our students to identify the origins of unjust systems and empower them to use their critical thinking skills and agency to responsibly disrupt the policies and practices that perpetuate inequalities.
