SD73.5 Transportation Plan: 2026-2027

As part of the Skokie 73.5 Board of Education directive to balance the district budget, the Business Office recommended and the Board of Education approved bus route modification at the January 13, 2026, Regular Board Meeting. The recommendation is a means to stabilize the Transportation Fund. The route recommendations take into consideration student safety, crossing guards, busy streets, and the age of students who ride the bus.

This page will continue to be updated with information as the district works with local agencies to create safe routes to school and develops new traffic patterns for drop-off and pick-up at each school. In addition, this page will begin to provide resources to families on walking, biking, driving safety, and creative ways to get to school such as walking school buses.

The highlighted areas on the maps below represent the areas where students are eligible for bus transportation. If your residence is not in the highlighted area, you will not be eligible for bus transportation in the school year 2026-2027.

Fees will still apply to transportation in the school year 2026-2027 and registration will be required. Students who live 1.5 miles or more from their school building and those that have full fee waivers WILL NOT be charged a transportation fee. Those with reduced fee waivers will be charged half the transportation fee.
