School Safety
Keeping students and staff safe is a shared priority across Skokie School District 73.5. Our schools use established safety procedures, regular training, and clear communication practices to help prepare for a variety of situations that may affect the school day.
This section provides families with information about the district’s approach to school safety, including the terminology we use during emergencies, how families can expect to receive information, and what to expect if a school needs to respond to an unexpected situation.
Standard Response Protocol
Skokie School District 73.5 uses the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) developed by The “I Love U Guys” Foundation. SRP provides students, staff, families, and first responders with a common set of actions and shared language that can be used during a variety of situations.

Emergency Communications
During an emergency or other significant school event, the district will share information with families as soon as accurate and appropriate information is available.
School Closings & Schedule Changes
Severe weather, building conditions, or other unexpected circumstances may occasionally require the district to close schools, delay the start of the school day, or make other schedule changes.
