Meyer Family Sing-Along

Thank you to all the Meyer families who sang and danced with Miss Carole of Macaroni Soup! at the Meyer Family Sing-Along on April 27th. The "snowball" fight in April was extra fun! We had a great turnout at this co-sponsored event with the Meyer Parent Leaders. While this is the third annual Family Sing-Along with Miss Carole, this was our first in-person event with her.

Arbor Day Ceremony

Meyer School celebrated Arbor Day with the Village of Skokie on Friday, April 28th. Mayor George Van Dusen read the book, Kate, Who Tamed the Wind, by Liz Garton Scanlon & Lee White, to our preschoolers in the Meyer Library. We then presented Mayor Van Dusen with a painting of a tree, with leaves that were fingerprints from our students, and Mayor Van Dusen presented the Meyer Library with six books about trees to add to our collection.

Following the read-aloud, our kindergartners joined Mayor Van Dusen outside for a Tree-planting Ceremony. Earlier in the week, students had voted on Tree Names, and selected "Sparkle" and "Tree-Cera-Tops" as the names of our two new trees at Meyer! The two trees were planted, and each kindergarten student added a handful of mulch around the trees. Special thanks to Mayor Van Dusen, Beautification and Improvement Commission Chair Bob Quane, the Commissioners, Village Forester Cathy Stevens, Dr. Hightower, District Office staff, and our parents/guardians, families, and community members for making this an extra special event for Meyer!
