District 73.5 Hires New Middleton Principal

ARCHIVED CONTENT

We are thrilled to share that last night (Tuesday, June 9, 2020) the District 73.5 School Board approved the hire of Dr. Erica Berger as the new principal of John Middleton Elementary. We are thrilled with the collaborative approach that was taken with this hire and the assistance of BWP and Associates in this process. We believe that Dr. Berger brings broad expertise as an educator and leader to the District that will benefit our students, parents and guardians, teachers, staff, administrators, and community as we navigate the challenges before us.

After spending the past several years as principal at Henry Winkelman Elementary in Glenview, Dr. Berger will be returning to Niles Township. She began her career at Park View in Morton Grove where she taught for 8 years as a 3rd grade teacher. While at Park View she taught in a sheltered English classroom for English and non-English speaking students. She also worked as an instructional coach and a paraprofessional. In addition to her extensive classroom experience, she has worked as an administrator for the past six years.

Dr. Berger shared that she is “incredibly excited to be joining District 73.5 and grateful for this new opportunity in a diverse community focused on the holistic approach to student learning, growth, and achievement.” Dr. Berger will begin working on July 1, 2020 and will be in regular communication with outgoing Middleton Principal Goodman and Assistant Principal Larenas to make the transition smoothly.
