Dear Skokie School District 73.5,

Our Teachers, Staff, and Administrators are excited to welcome students back to school next week.

The District has planned a BACK TO SCHOOL BASH to kick off the new school year. We hope you will join us at the McCracken Field on Sunday, August 20th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. We will have free ice cream, bounce houses, and other fun activities.

While students were on summer break, many of our teachers spent their time engaging in peer-book studies and traveling to out-of-state instructional professional development. Teachers and paraprofessionals were creating/updating our Teacher Mentor Programs and developing our “new” Paraprofessional Mentor Program.

Meyer and Middleton received new classroom furniture over the past few years and, this summer, McCracken finally received new classroom furniture. Teachers and students will be able to configure their classroom space to complement learning objectives.

You may have noticed construction at McCracken along Oakton Street. Skokie735 is building a new garage for much-needed storage and small office space. The new garage will not solve our classroom space issues, but it will increase square footage and provide our Buildings and Grounds team with more optimal storage space for mechanical equipment.

The District team was busy during the summer updating our internet infrastructure, developing our landscapes, and monitoring the garage construction project.

We look forward to seeing our students at the Back to School Bash and in our buildings, halls, and classrooms as we begin the 2023-2024 school year!

Sincerely,

Dr. Zipporah Hightower
Superintendent
