Middleton students will participate in short screening assessments. Students in 1st through 5th grade will participate in Reading-Curriculum Based Measure (RCBM) and Math Computation (MCOMP) beginning the week of January 4. First grade students will participate in the Illinois Snapshot of Early Literacy (ISEL) the week of January 4. Following this data collection period, school teams will meet to review the data and plan for any students needing supplemental support. Test results will be sent home to families later in the winter. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Brittney Tiehen, District MTSS Coordinator at 847.676.8269 or Tiffany Voight, Middleton School Psychologist at 847.676.8015.
Access Testing For English Language Learners
From January 11 to February 5, all students in the English Learner program will be taking the ACCESS test. The ACCESS test measures each EL student’s progress in learning English. The students will be tested in Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. This year the students will be taking these tests in small groups on the computer. During this time, please make sure that your child eats a good breakfast, gets a good night’s sleep, and comes to school on time. Our students are making very good progress and we want to make sure that they show their growth on the ACCESS test. If you have any questions, please call your child’s EL teacher.
Winter enrichment starts January 25, 2016. Enrichment brochures went home Monday, January 4, 2016, right after we returned from winter break. Registration forms and fees are due Monday, January 11, 2016. Please note that 4th grade math support has been moved from Thursdays to Mondays. This is an invitation only class. Contact enrichment coordinator Kimberly Davis by email if you have questions.

Personal Body Safety Program
Over January 5, 6, and 8, the North West Center Against Sexual Assault will be presenting a Personal Body Safety Program in your child’s classroom. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
Elp Inquiry Window
Our Extended Learning Program provides honors classes for students in Math and English Language Arts in grades 4-8. Students qualify for these classes based on a variety of measures. Families are notified of this information in June (for class placement for the upcoming school year). Parents may complete a Parent Inquiry if they feel their child may benefit from a more rigorous curriculum. The Parent Inquiry window opens October 1 and remains open until April 1. Parent Inquiry paperwork is available in the main office of Middleton and McCracken, or by contacting your school’s Assistant Principal.
